Journey to Baby Gelen

We are the Gelens! My name is Kate and I have been with my husband Zach for 7 years. On our third date I dropped a bomb on him while eating a cheeseburger…a double whammy and a true test. I explained that having children might prove difficult for me because at 21 years of age I was diagnosed with a form of choriocarcinoma which left me with a lot of scar tissue and other uncertainties. I figured if he stuck around through that news and my face while eating a cheeseburger then he would be a keeper. That is exactly what he did. My husband has been by my side through 2 surgeries, 6 failed IUI cycles, 2 failed IVF cycles and the two years following of tears and prayers over our next steps. We contemplated all our options for two years following our last failed IVF cycle and we are finally ready to announce that we are pursuing a journey to build our family through traditional surrogacy. Zach and I have built a beautiful life together filled with our wonderful family and many friends and we just can’t wait to bring Baby G into this world with you all. We are asking our family, friends, and community to lend a hand by donating to our fundraiser to aid in the financial burden of surrogacy.
