A Baby for Logan and Tim

My name is Logan McCarthy and I suffer from infertility due to cancer treatment I received during my battle with leukemia at 14 years old. After several complications throughout my treatment and a near death experience, my doctors and family came to the decision for me to have a stem cell transplant after only a few months of chemotherapy. It is believed that the high doses of both chemotherapy and radiation in preparation for my transplant caused my body to enter menopause at just 14. 12 years ago, I met my husband Tim through my sister who happened to have shared my story with him. He was still willing to be with me despite knowing that having children would be more complicated, and for that I am eternally grateful! Tim teaches high school math at a private Christian school, and I am a nurse in the operating room at one of our local hospitals. We have been married for 9 years now and would really love to start a family of our own. We began our IVF journey almost 2 years ago now, but because of my history with cancer and requiring multiple extra tests and consults, we are just now able to actually start an IVf cycle! Again, due to my history with cancer and being menopausal since my treatment, we will have to use donor eggs which significantly increases our costs. We are not able to complete the treatment plan that we originally hoped so our costs will end up being more than originally planned, as of now standing at about $55,000. Because of this, we are asking for help as we are “self-pay” patients and all of our IVF costs are out-of-pocket. Our insurance does not cover any of the donor egg costs.
